I recently returned from a week-long trip to Istanbul filled with sightseeing, shopping, great meals, delectable sweets, Turkish coffee and wonderful people! My heartfelt thanks go to Elgiz Henden at IzKocluk for making the trip a reality. I had the honor of presenting a conference on ADHD and coaching on Friday, March 16, to parents and professionals, including Dr. Muammer Yildiz, National Education Director of Istanbul. It was a delight to share my passion about ADHD coaching for youth and I deeply appreciate the warm welcome and show of support for my work. On March 17-18, we had a packed room of coaches and allied professionals eager to learn about the JST model for ADHD youth coaching and how to best use the coaching model to support young people with ADHD in all life areas. IzKocluk translated all the course materials and the PowerPoint presentation; and provided a translator to insure that everyone in the training understood all the materials. Thankfully, I had the English version of my presentation on the lectern to keep myself on track! The Turkish people are ready to step up and implement change on behalf of students with ADHD, executive dysfunction and learning issues. This trip was the first of many and I look forward to “growing” ADHD youth coaching in Istanbul and beyond. To view more of my travel photos, check out our Facebook page.
