I am deeply grateful for the opportunities that have arisen from my work in ADHD youth coaching and training. One of those opportunities was a trip to Rome following my week in Istanbul. Laura Cavaldesi, PCC contacted me a few months ago to discuss ADHD coach training and ideas for introducing ADHD youth coaching to Italy. Since I had already planned a training in Istanbul for October, Laura invited me to be her guest for a weekend to meet, plan a training and, of course, to see Rome! How could I say “no”? This was another opportunity for me to see a new city and to help to create ADHD awareness. I was surprised, and saddened, to learn that Italy is 15- 20 years behind the U.S. in diagnosis and treatment of ADHD. There is much work to be done and I applaud Laura for taking the first step to bring ADHD coaching to her country.
The visit was wonderful – home-cooked Italian meals, a walk on the Mediterranean shore, time with Laura’s family and a one-day tour of ancient Rome. Beautiful weather capped off a perfect visit, just as it had in Istanbul. Laura and I have planned a training program for April 2014 in Rome (or Milan), so those of you who live on the other side of the pond, keep your eyes and ears open for details.
