December Business Planning for Coaches – Part 3

Are you ready for the next installment of business planning for coaches?  Did you come up with a basic business plan or business name last week?  If not, what is holding you back? What do you need to do to make that happen? I used to be afraid of creating a business plan, wondering how I could decide what to do and commit it to paper.  I also wondered how it was possible to predict my income and actually make that number a reality.  I have since learned that business plans are not set in stone and the key is to get started.  Write down your dreams, your ideas, and your passions. What do you WANT to do in the coming year?  Coaching, speaking, mentoring, consulting, training or writing?  How much time would you like to spend on each of these areas each week or month? Write it out in detail and then build in the “how to” section, which will include marketing ideas, both no-cost and low cost to start. My philosophy is to start small and use what you have available before spending a lot of money. Let’s consider what you have available for free marketing opportunities:

  1. Local schools and universities
  2. Friends and family
  3. Coaching colleagues in other niches
  4. Local businesses
  5. Mental health professionals
  6. Medical professionals
  7. Health clubs/gyms
  8. Social media
  9. For ADHD coaches, CHADD support groups and local chapters
  10. Community centers and houses of worship

Other ideas?  Brainstorm on your own or with other coaches. We would love to share ideas through this blog, so please post your thoughts and check back for ideas from other coaches. Stay tuned for low cost marketing ideas to get you started! Have a great week.
