Coaching Tips for the upcoming CHADD Conference

The 23rd Annual CHADD Conference on ADHD begins on Thursday, November 10.  The schedule is jam-packed with excellent pre-conference and general conference sessions, the exhibit hall grand opening plus an evening of entertainment and the CHADD auction on Friday night. All this plus the Florida sunshine is a draw for those of us packing our bags in anticipation. We will see old friends, make new ones, learn about cutting edge ADHD research, coaching and other complementary treatment options, get tips for helping children and adults alike, and more! As wonderful as this event will be, it can be overwhelming to adults with ADHD.  Here are a few tips: 1. Browse conference sessions online at home. 2. Jot down your favorite sessions and a few alternatives. 3. Print the handouts and PACK them in your suitcase. 4. While at that conference, practice self-care to stay energized and focused. 5. Take a morning walk around the pool or practice mindful meditation in your room before or after sessions. 6. When you need to step away from the noise, simply excuse yourself and find a corner. There are plenty of spots for you around the conference center. 7. Spend a few minutes each evening preparing for the next day’s events. What handouts will you need? Where is breakfast? What will you wear? Do you need a wake-up call from Mickey? 8. Smile, laugh, and enjoy being in the company of others who REALLY understand you. Looking forward to seeing you in Orlando. Jodi
