In their recent AHEAD publication, “Becoming Self-Determined: Creating Thoughtful Learners in a Standards-Driven, Admissions-Frenzied Culture”, Field and Parker (2016) outline academic coaching as one of six high impact practices that build student determination in post-secondary education.
While we know that disability service offices play an essential role in providing students with appropriate accommodations to provide access, disability support providers can enhance their services by integrating coaching language into their work with students.
