ADHD and Managing Stress Tip – Meditation

Today we are focusing on the value of keeping your stress levels down. The winter months and the holidays especially can be very stressful. We all want to enjoy the holidays and be happy they are here but that can be very challenging with all of the things that are going on. The shopping, the cooking, spending more time than usual with family members, trying to get your greeting cards out, standing in line at the post office, buying clothes for the holidays, being able to manage your children during winter break.

Have I got you going yet?

It’s important to be able to take care of yourself. That can come from taking a few moments to just breathe, doing a little bit of exercise – even a quick ten minute walk around the block or working on some meditation techniques.

One of the books that I want to mention to you is called Mindfulness Prescription for Adult ADHD by Lidia Zylowska MD. This is a great book and she also includes a CD ROM that helps you work on your meditation skills and it gives you an opportunity to spend just a little time for yourself. We are not talking about an hour, just a few minutes of your day.  You don’t have to say OOOMMM if that is not you and you don’t even have to close your eyes. It is just about breathing in and breathing out and enjoying life.

Happy Holidays!
